Goal Statement: Ensure all Dearborn County residents who are at risk are screened for trauma and substance use disorders at schools, primary care, clinics and hospitals.
Successes:
Highpoint Health is working to implement substance use disorder screening within their outpatient settings. Physicians will be trained in the use of SBIRT - Screening, Brief Intervention, Referral, Treatment. By using SBIRT, physicians can recognize and refer those who might need treatment or other support.
Future Plans:
All three Dearborn County public school districts are working together to plan activities to better connect school counseling staff with area treatment providers and other resources. This will help with school referrals if a student is in need of services related to substance use.
